You may have been told to wear sunscreen, but you may not know all the reasons why. The obvious reason we all know about is to avoid getting burnt into a crisp. But beyond that, sunscreen is the best weapon you have against preventing early signs of aging and protecting the health of your skin. Here are a couple more reasons why everyone should include sunscreen in their daily skin care routine.

Why Should I Wear Sunscreen?

Reason #1: Reduce your risk of skin cancer

As the Skin Cancer Foundation points out, sunscreen protects your skin from sun damage and reduces your risk of skin cancers and skin pre-cancers. Wearing a sunscreen that has at least an SPF factor of 15 decreases your risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma by 40%, and your melanoma (the deadliest skin cancer) risk by 50%.

The best sunscreens have ‘broad-spectrum’ written on the label, which means a sunscreen that will block out both UVA and UVB rays.

Resting Beach Face SPF30 Sunscreen Serum protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays, free radicals, dehydration, and environmental aggressors. This light-weight formula (perfect to wear on the face) contains skin-nourishing goodies like hyaluronic acid, green tea and spinach.

Reason #2: Begone wrinkles

It happens to all of us! And sunscreen is the best method of prevention to fight the signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet. But it can be difficult to find an SPF suitable for your face. If you’re suffering with acne-prone skin and you have trouble finding a product that lets your pores breathe, the Rosé S'il Vous Plait SPF30 Gentle Mineral Sunscreen is not only designed as a facial sunscreen. It’s clinically tested to be non-comedogenic. So, you can breathe easy (and so can your pores!).

Reason #3: Avoid

blotchy skin and hyperpigmentation
It can be really disheartening when blotches, dark spots or uneven skin patches appear. While blotchy skin can be a result of things out of your control, including heredity, what you can do is manage the sun damage that occurs on your skin. Applying SPF regularly can also help prevent the dark patches from getting worse. Other solutions include Vitamin C for brightening effects, but you should always check with your dermatologist first.

For incredible full-body protection, the Oh My Bod! SPF50 Body Sunscreen has an SPF factor of 50, which means it provides 50 times more protection than skin without sunscreen. You don’t have to worry about looking like a ghost as it has zero white cast, as well as hyaluronic acid, which seriously hydrates as well as cucumber and green tea to help prevent skin damage.

Have we given you enough reasons yet? It’s pretty straightforward - if you want to keep your skin looking its best, daily sunscreen application is where the answers lie :-)
